Greenspun Media Group is Hiring a Government Reporter Near Henderson, NV

The Las Vegas Sun is seeking an ambitious, aggressive reporter to cover one of our most vibrant beats ? state and local government.
This job is a journalist?s nirvana, bursting with opportunities to break major news, hold local officials accountable and tell stories that spur dialogue about community issues. The beat encompasses the Nevada Legislature, state government and the broader workings of the federal government impacting the region. The reporter will have opportunities to travel to Washington, D.C., to pursue these stories and contribute to the national dialogue.
We?re looking for someone with a watchdog?s tenacity, an ability to recognize a meaningful story, a sense of urgency to chase it down and the writing skills to make it compelling. We pride ourselves on finding ways to explain complicated issues, strip through the clutter of the inner workings of government, shine light on problems and give our readers the information they need to make decisions about their community.
Candidates ideally will have experience reporting on state or federal government, but we?re interested in those who have excelled in other areas as well. The key to success in our newsroom is a combination of strong curiosity, fearless reporting and distinctive voices.
Our successful candidate will have the ability to produce content ranging from quick turnarounds on breaking news to long-form narratives. In addition, the candidate will have a competitive nature, a collaborative personality and the ability to self-direct.
The Las Vegas Sun is a product of Greenspun Media Group, a family-owned company that prides itself on operating collaboratively and collegially across all parts of our organization.
Our publications also include: Las Vegas Weekly; a group of leading websites, including award-winning LasVegasSun.com and VegasInc.com, the valley?s leading business publication; and Las Vegas Magazine, which is distributed in most of the hotel rooms on the Las Vegas Strip. We?re building a media company for the next 50 years, and we take pride in the quality and progressive nature of our work. The Las Vegas Sun won the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service in 2009, and GMG?s sites have won EPPY Awards in four of the past five years.
We only hire the best of the best, because we offer the best! Greenspun Media Group offers competitive pay and a benefits package to include: medical, dental, vision, 401K, and a generous PTO (paid time off) plan.
Interested in applying? If so, please send your r?sum? and sample clips to using the link provided. We look forward to learning more about you!
